30 Things in 30 Years: Be a Leader if You’re a Leader

From an organizational standpoint, I’ve noticed that I am very inclined to be in leadership in various religious, academic, social, and professional settings. Many times people interpret leadership as simply “being in charge,” but there are many more ways to lead than just that. Over the years, my biggest takeaways have been: leadership has nothing to do with seniority or one’s position in the hierarchy of an organization. Leadership has nothing to do with titles. Leadership is not management. Of course, I have much more to say about all those…

Altogether, it all boils down to “to whom much is given, much is required.” There is a responsibility in leadership, even in social situations (read: social media, friendships, and in social settings—again, more to come.) We were given the level of influence and strength we have neither to manipulate people nor to stroke our own egos.

You are a leader; tap into it, live it, be it.
